World War II The Home Front Chronicles Volume 6 DVD

World War II
The Home Front Chronicles
Volume 6

For a small taste of this great DVD,
watch the preview below.

WW II: The Home Front Chronicles is an 8 DVD set that spans the years 1941 to 1945. From the opening 1941 documentary film Ring of Steel, which is narrated by Spencer Tracy to the last film, Combat America (1945) narrated by Clark Gable (and in many scenes too) you get the sense and feel of what the American people were going through, the love for this country, the pride, and yes, fear for the young men and women putting their lives on the line.

However, there is a feeling throughout all the films that America would prevail, we would win no matter what it took. That is the America, and the people I will always remember and be thankful to. It makes me not only stand a bit taller, but also proud to be an American.  To see the sacrifices our parents, grandparents and those still living from this greatest generation went through, is humbling. Personally I think we have lost this feeling, but then again that is just my opinion and what is so nice is that I can be free to have an opinion. Thanks to them. Enjoy and watch the people that made this country the great one it is today!

This series is mainly concerned with how the folks stateside supported those overseas, their contribution and sacrifices and how they were an integral part of the war effort.

Volume 6 runs over an hour.

With the work effort being the focus in the 1944 film, Men and Jobs we see how the U.S. government tried to match every person to a job during World War II. 8:46

What Makes a Battle?, a 1944 film, not only shows the strategy and successes of the Marshall Islands battle in World War II, but how all of America is part of the war effort. The people on the assembly lines to those battling in the Pacific. Excellent war footage. 15:34

This 1944 film, To the People of the United States is a public educational, semi-dramatic film starring Jean Hersholt on combating the epidemic of sexually transmitted diseases, especially syphilis, in World War II. There is a direct appeal for individual blood tests and urges public discussion of the problem. There are cameos by Robert Mitchum and Noah Beery (for those of you who don’t know, Jim Rockford's dad on The Rockford Files). 21:22

Watch workers of a Wisconsin town mobilize for World War II production in the 1944 film, These Are the People, where Kimberly-Clark is making paper products for the war! 15:24
